A binding is the technique applied in finishing the edge or hem of a garment. It is done with bias tape , this is a pieces of long, straight piece usually cut on a bias cut for flexibility to adapt to curves and corners.

This piece is folded into 2 and pressed to hold in place.

This piece is folded in from both sides.

This technique is usually done by pressing the bias tape, then stitching it on the edge or trim.

Applying the bias tape
